What is Appy Travels?

Appy Travels is an Australian based travel business offering multiple free apps for travellers to a wide range of destinations. Our first apps cover 37 Australian destinations.

Who writes the Appy Travels guides?

The guide content is first written by us, then once it's available to travellers on the app store the guide content constantly evolves with input from the travel community. So what are you waiting for - be our guide!

Can I submit to Appy Travels a photo, video or written piece about a place I've travelled to?

Our app content evolves through the feedback given to us by travellers like you. It's how we keep it fresh. This includes written tips, suggestions and longer pieces of written work, it also includes other content in the apps such as photos and videos. We even like your ideas for new app functions.

Why are they the world's best travel companions?

When we started out to make Appy Travels we didn't aim to be second best - we wanted our product to be the standard others aspired to. We did a whole lot of research and found out what other travellers want. And now we're beginning to deliver it in the first version of our apps. It doesn't stop there. We will continue to refine what we offer travellers to ever improve our apps. Our apps are more than guides, with a whole lot of other useful info you can really turn to when you need it. And being able to turn to help and then get it when you need it is exactly what you want in a travel companion.

Do the apps come in languages other than English?

Not yet, but it's coming soon. We know it's important but it's a huge task at the volumes we work in, so we're still getting there.

What is the difference between the exclusive deals and the daily deals?

Exclusive deals are the ones local tourism operators list in each of our different destinations. As it's early days, some of our apps will not have had this section offered to local tourism operators yet. Daily deals are all the travel deals from all the other types of deal company you can think of, aggregated daily and fed into each app. Daily deals we source will primarily be deals that apply to travellers in each destination.

How do I use Twitter in Appy Travels apps?

Twitter is an important tool for your use in our apps. Each destination has two hashtags assigned to it, the destination e.g. #ByronBay, and #AppyTravels. These hashtags appear in your own tweets made through the apps (when you are signed in to Twitter). When you write a tweet in the app it adds these hashtags automatically. It's a way of letting others with the same app know you are in the area and what you're doing or how amazing something is - in real time!
