Camping

The most popular way to spend time at The Prom is to camp.

At Tidal River there are some 484 camping and caravan sites, with only 20 of these powered. As this is a very popular area, pre-booking a campsite is ESSENTIAL and can be booked up to 12 months in advance. To book phone 13 19 63 within Australia or +61 3 8627 4700 internationally.

In popular holiday periods when the campsites get completely booked out, Parks Victoria has introduced a public ballot system where the sites are distributed fairly. This applies for the Summer period (26th December-29th January), Easter holidays (April) and Labour Day weekend (early March). The base price for an unpowered campsite is $23.50 (includes three people and one vehicle), with $7 for an additional vehicle, $3 an additional child and $5.50 an additional adult (maximum eight people per campsite). Generators and campfires are not permitted so take a gas or fuel stove.

Huts and Units

At Tidal River you will find limited non-camping accommodation options which can also be booked through Parks Victoria. These are:

• Huts One room huts with bunks, stove, small fridge and gas heating - linen and towel hire available on request. It’s $62 a night for a four-bed hut and $95 a night for a six-bed hut in peak season.
• Lorikeet Units Fully self-contained motel style accommodation for $117.50 per night for one to two people in peak season.
