Tasmania, Australia

Atop Mt Read in Tasmania's north-west, there is a colony of rare Huon Pine trees. They have been studied and dated and are estimated to be around 10,000 years old, and therefore among the oldest on the planet! These sorts of environmental rarities and natural wonders are what makes Tasmania a unique and precious destination, its relatively untouched parks and reserves still holding the secrets of the natural world.
