Transportation - Getting Around

Car

The Great Alpine Road runs right through the middle of the Mount Hotham Village and Ski Resort, so you can drive around it if you wish. However, parking is limited so most people catch the bus. Always be aware that relaxed pedestrians in holiday mode will often quite casually cross the road weighed down and sight obscured by armfuls of gear, so drive slowly in the resort area.

Bus

The Village Bus Service is operated by a set of clunky old school buses with big SNOW BUS labels. This free service drives up and down the length of the Great Alpine Road inside the resort. Catch it at any of the “Village Bus" signs which are located near most carparks, major lifts and run end-points on the road. It arrives every 5-10 minutes. Skis must be stored in the holders on the outside of the bus, but snowboards can be carried onboard.

Helicopter

Heli Link is a helicopter service which runs between Hotham and the nearby ski resort Falls Creek. It takes six minutes and bookings can be made at the Guest Services desk in Hotham Central. Both resorts are owned by the same company so your lift passes are interchangeable and can be used at either location, so for the cost of a return helicopter ride you can ski completely different terrain and enjoy some magnificent views over the Alps!
