There are numerous little cafes, homesteads and roadhouses catering for tourists along the winding roads. Also, most of the towns have a local pub where you can get quality counter meals and some drinks. Most of the restaurants are in the main tourist towns of Leura or Katoomba, but many are hidden away in scenic spots all through the mountains. Some good options are:

• Silk’s Brasserie A very popular and well awarded restaurant in Leura; often booked out so book ahead. The mains range from $29-$37 so while not cheap, they are excellent. Highly recommended.
• Monte Bello A little gem of an Italian restaurant in Katoomba. It's very popular so go early or book ahead.
• Pins on Megalong A quality local restaurant in Leura, representing fantastic value for money and a mix of cuisine choices.
• Solitary Perched above the Leura Cascades, this restaurant offers some of the most spectacular views of the mountains. It’s open for lunch everyday, and for dinner only on Saturday nights. The lunch meals range from $13-$24.

• Seven A reasonably priced Italian restaurant in Wentworth Falls, with dinner mains from $13-$30. It's open as a cafe for breakfast and lunch on the weekends, and for dinner Tuesday to Saturday.

• Cafe Memento A cute cafe in Blackheath with good coffee, a comfortable courtyard and all homemade meals.
